The Best Online Travel Entertainment of 2020
“The bigger the challenge, the bigger the opportunity for growth” ~ Anonymous
There is no doubt about it, this is a really, really tough time. If you are anything like me, as we sit here in our social isolation together, apart, your “travel heart” is deeply grieving, and your spring wanderlust is in FULL force in response to our current COVID-19-induced uncertainty.
Every challenge creates an opportunity. Now is a perfect opportunity to learn. It is also an ideal time to conger up some juicy additions to your travel bucket lists. Here are my personal favourite sources of online travel entertainment. Feel free to share your favourites in the comments below! By the way they are not in any order, they all offer something unique that will leave you learning and dreaming.
Here are my top 10 virtual fuel sources to stoke your wanderlust FIRE
#1) Kara & Nate’s Travel Vlog
I just love these two. Kara and Nate are young, adventurous nomads who recently traveled 100 countries with over 1 million You Tube subscribers, Vlogging every step of the way. Completely free online streaming, start by watching their recently published documentary which supplies you with a personal perspective on their unique journey and how they have got to where they are now.
#2) Our Planet
I am 100% guilty of drifting to sleep while watching Planet Earth most nights. My lovely husband (who would rather be watching an action movie) has even taken to these incredible episodes that artfully capture every edge of life on our spectacular planet.
p.s. I don’t fall asleep from boredom it is just David Attenborough’s soothing voice (equally as peaceful as the golf channel!)
#3) The Kindness Diaries

We loved every heartwarming step of Leon Logothetis’s philanthrophic journey. I could not find Season 1 anymore but season 2, which is available is equally as excellent.
#4 Samantha Brown’s Places to Love
Samantha explores all around the world highlighting her favourites! Easy to stream online via the PBS website
#5) Tales by Light
These are a passionate group of photographers who have documented their awe-dropping experiences while captivating every worth-while moment experiencing the most spectacular edges on earth.
#6) Somebody Feel Phil
Not only is Phil the most adorably happy soul with an infectiously cute personality, he travels all around the globe sourcing out delicious food. We have been immersed watching his series over the past week.
Going for for runs and walks (keeping social distance of course!) while listening to podcasts, has been my personal favourite escape tactic of late…
#7) The Mindset Mentor
I snuck this one in here as it is not a travel specific podcast. However, for all of us facing this huge challenges of world lockdown, mindset is an integral aspect of all of our lives every day. In this podcast, Rob Dial offers an infinite amount of value for your time. I have personally spent many hours walking or running while listening to him and his welcoming perspective on mindset and personal growth through challenge.
#8) Travel Genius Podcast

These two are a hoot. They spend a good chunk of time announcing unique travel tips through interviews with folk who travel a TON, to give you a lot of inside tips to smooth out your travel turbulence.
#9) The Amateur Traveler
He also has a website, but Chris Christensen’s podcast is the most comprehensive travel podcast (on spotify/itunes) I have found. He interviews locals to obtain secrets to destinations all around globe throughout hundreds of episodes.
#10) Beach Webcams
Last but not least… if we can’t be there we can at least pretend.
Stay home, stay safe and stay healthy! When we are all ready to set foot on another plane, cruise, hotel, or resort, I am here to help you every step of the way!!
